Our Mission

The Lambda Center is committed to providing high quality behavioral healthcare programs to the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender communities. Our goal is to demonstrate outstanding clinical competence and reflect an atmosphere of diversity in a safe and comfortable environment.

Research shows that the impact of homophobia, prejudice and discrimination experienced by the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender (abbreviated as GLBT) Communities is reflected in high incidences of substance abuse, mood disorders and even suicide. These disruptions in interpersonal functioning make it difficult to sustain healthy relationships and preserve self-esteem. Mental health professionals are often frustrated in their efforts to secure appropriate treatment settings for GLBT clients. When a client needs more intensive interventions, finding a facility that can address both the client's treatment needs and affirm his or her identity is difficult. The Lambda Center meets both of these objectives.
